Strategic Planning in sport
Part one : Introduction to strategic Planning "You can't escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today". (Abraham Lincoln). " The word strategy has its origins in the field of military planning, stemming from the Greek word ( stratos ) meaning ( army ). Strategy is a plan, some sort of consciously intended course of action, guideline or set of guidelines to deal with a situation. A strategic plan provides focus, directions and purposes for sport. That is because it like a trip which moves from place to new one. On other word, the plan provides new purpose to develop the oldest one and establishes objectives for sport facilities with specific goals. However, there are processes, variety of perspectives, models used in strategic planning. Strategic planning is several process designed to achieved goals and values, and It is provides a framework which will be consistent over a specific period of time. Also, it is identified direction of work . every sport organization, committee and association should have a vision, mission statement, goals and then ways to meet these things. Once you have worked out what you want to achieve, then you must set out how you will achieve those things through planning activities. The UNESCO (1993) defined that Strategic planning is "a disciplined effort to produce fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide what a system is, where it is going and how it is going to get there". In addition, there are processes we have to understand it before set any planning : the Irish Sport Council (2004) suggested flowing seven step processes to produce a plan "Plan the plan, Analysis, Planning Workshop, synthesis, consultation and adoption, implementation and review" There are a variety of perspectives, models and approaches used in strategic planning. The way that a strategic plan is developed depends on the nature of the organization's leadership, culture of the organization, complexity of the organization's environment, size of the organization, expertise of planners, etc Finally,A Strategic Plan, like a map, helps a sport to move with purpose.
